Inclement Weather Procedures During the Hybrid Learning Model

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The Bloomfield School District is making some changes to inclement weather procedures for the 2020/2021 school year.  The changes are not too dramatic in contrast to what has been done in the past.

Inclement Weather School Closure: (Weather has made it unsafe to conduct school physically)

If announced that school is closed...

  • At School Option:  Students will not report to school
  • At Home Option: Online learning will be cancelled for the day
  • There will be no meal service or curbside pick-up. All sites will be closed.

Inclement Weather Modified Learning: (Weather has made it temporarily unsafe to conduct school physically)

There will be NO delayed school starts if temporary affecting inclement weather exists, instead…

If announced that school will be in Modified Learning Mode...

  • At-School & At-Home PreK-12th grade students will engage in virtual learning from home beginning at normally scheduled start times.
  • If school is in Modified Learning Mode due to inclement weather on a Wednesday, all students will engage in their regular Wednesday independent learning practices.
  • Meals (breakfast and lunch) will be served curbside 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. behind Bloomfield High School as we have done since March.

This announcement serves as a reminder that At-School students grades 3 through 12, as well as staff, should be taking their laptops, chargers and any other necessary supplies home every day. Students and staff with limited or no internet connectivity should be in collaboration with one another and have a shared understanding of how students will actively engage in learning.

Announcements regarding inclement weather school closure will be made via robo-calls, local television news stations, social media outlets, and the district website.

On closure days all co-curricular activities and other activities of the district are canceled unless an exception is made on a case-by-case basis by the Superintendent.

Thank you for your continued patience and support as we navigate through these unprecedented times.
