Naaba Ani Parents and Guardians,

The Naaba Ani Elementary administrative team hopes to find you safe and well. The 2021-2022 school year is upon us and will begin on Monday, August 16th for our new 4th grade students and Tuesday, August 17th for our 5th and 6th grade students.

The state has recently updated (July 26th) the COVID 19 Response Toolkit, which indicates all elementary school students and staff have to wear masks at all times while in the school building, on school transportation, or attending school events. Students will need to continue to enter the building/school transportation with a mask worn correctly covering both their nose and mouth. Additionally, our campus is not able to have visitors come into the building without an appointment. Upon the arrival for an appointment, all visitors must also have their temperature taken and have a mask on before entering the building. Thank you for your support in ensuring our school remains safe.

You may access Naaba’s school supply list here as well as the district and school website.

PowerSchool will go live for parents/guardians on August 11th. Please update your contact information including phone numbers, email addresses, and the physical address in PowerSchool even if your child is already enrolled in the district. Please contact the transportation department for bus information.

Classroom rosters will be posted on the front windows of the main entrance by 12:00 pm on Wednesday, August 11th.

We will be holding an Open House for all grade levels on Thursday, August 12th from 5:30pm-6:30pm. Students may come meet their teacher and bring their school supplies during this come and go time. If you are unable to attend the Open House, students can bring their school supplies as well as their fully charged district ChromeBook on their first day of school.

Students may begin to be dropped off starting at 7:20am. If you would like to have your child take advantage of the free breakfast, please have your child in their class by 7:45am. The first bell will ring at 7:50am, the tardy bell will ring at 7:55am with instruction beginning at 8:00am.

The Afternoon Pick Up will be at 3:05.

Transportation Arrangements/Changes: Any transportation changes must be made in writing prior to 2:00. There can be no changes to bus accommodations (ex: riding a different bus number today only) unless there is prior approval from the transportation department.

NO check outs after 2:30 (if arriving at 2:30 or after, please get in the pick up line and your student will be dismissed at 3:05).

We have made a few adjustments to our Master Schedule to provide more opportunities for our students during the day for time blocks for core, interventions, and specials. We want to make sure we are meeting students’ individual needs - both academic and social emotional.

Although we believe in-person learning for our students is the most effective way of learning, we understand some families may want to remain virtual at this time. If you are interested in your student participating in the online school that the district is offering, please contact Tonia Teller, our registrar, at 505-634-3507.  You will need to make an appointment with her to start the application process. After the application is complete, families will need to attend a mandatory orientation meeting to be accepted into the online school. Returning students will not be admitted into the online school after August 20th. Please note the online school will have more stringent requirements this year than last year. Please review the FAQ for Elementary Online School to make sure your child meets the requirements.

Additionally, on Tuesday, August 10th, all of our staff will be participating in a training; therefore, our office staff will not be available to meet with families either in person or on the phone from 7:30am-1:00pm. Our office staff will also be unavailable from 11:30-12:15 on Thursday, August 12th for a staff luncheon. We appreciate your understanding as it is important for all staff to be in attendance for this specific training and team building.

Please refer to the District website, Naaba Ani website, and the District Facebook page for more information regarding the start of the 2021-2022 school year. Please contact the Naaba Ani main office at 505-634-3500 if you have any questions.

We look forward to a great year of learning with our students and staff!

We will rise up and excel because we are made for more!
